Job Description:

Position Overview

Our local, southeast Houston nondenominational church is seeking a creative, organized, and visionary Kids Pastor to lead our student ministries, with a primary focus on our CRASH Club after-school program, which ministers to hundreds of students from Pre-K through 12th grade weekly. This program includes mobile ministry with engaging services, age-appropriate Bible studies, worship choirs, and activities at local schools that nurture spiritual growth and community.

This role is a key position in our church, requiring someone passionate about making disciples of the next generation while building strong partnerships with families and the broader community. The ministry is unconventional and focuses on working primarily outside the walls of a church. We serve our zip code through a community center, as Hobby airport chaplains, in home Bible studies, and after-school programs. We believe the Frederick Douglass quote, “It is easier to raise strong children than to repair broken men.” While we do offer opportunities for adults, the majority of time, energy, and money is devoted to reaching kids.

The ideal candidate is a spirit-filled ministry veteran that excels at connecting the Gospel to a wide age range of students (PK–12th grade), creating meaningful ministry experiences, and leading dynamic programs for both weekend services and weekday initiatives. They will need strong leadership skills to expand our after-school volunteer teams, as well as a creative edge to develop content for ministry. Experience with graphics, video, social media, and content creation using tools like Adobe Creative Cloud is a major plus.

  • Oversee the kids worship choir, worship band, and other creative elements in Sunday programming, ensuring high-quality and spiritually enriching experiences.
  • Facilitate Bible studies tailored for kids to deepen their understanding of God’s Word.

Volunteer Leadership and Development

  • Recruit, train, and equip a team of volunteers to assist in all aspects of the children's ministry and CRASH Club.

  • Previous experience leading children's ministry or similar programs.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Creativity and the ability to incorporate dynamic teaching methods across a variety of environments.
  • Proficiency with technology and media tools to enhance programming is a plus.

Schedule

  • Full-time schedule with Sundays and weekday afternoons required for CRASH Club and other programming.
  • Additional time required for planning, volunteer meetings, and special events.

Compensation

  • Salary: $45,000 annually, with opportunities for growth based on performance and ministry expansion.

Additional Income Opportunities:

  • The position offers potential for supplemental income for candidates with specialized skills in areas such as print media, social media, AI image generation, grant writing, graphic design, curriculum development, online business experience, marketing, and content creation. These skills can be utilized for special projects or initiatives that align with the ministry's goals and needs.
