Live-in Personal Support - Young Adult with Intellectual Disabilities - ROOM AND BOARD INCLUDED

Position Summary:
Direct Support Professionals – Personal Supports are employees hired to provide a need led service to adults with an intellectual and/or developmental disability by adopting a person-centered approach that fosters self-awareness, personal growth and gives each person the strongest voice with regards to decision making and lifestyle choices. Staff guide and train individuals in personal hygiene and grooming, caring for their home, individual and group behavior, meal preparation, and other similar life skills.
Care of Individuals Served:
• Assist with organization of medication following regulatory guidelines
• Assist with organization and scheduling of health/mental/dental care responsibilities for residents as necessary
• Provide training in Life skills
• Support individuals volunteering, employment, and activities
• Assist in maintaining home, grounds, and vehicle
• Assist in budget preparation, budgeting skills, and other factors of living independently
• To always act as a positive role model
Essential Functions:
• Provides direct care to those with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
• Train individuals in good personal hygiene, proper personal presentation, and encourage healthy and safe quarters maintenance, organization, laundry procedures, and housekeeping.
• Ensure individuals served follow daily hygiene and grooming routine and aid and training as needed. Redirect and assist residents if not properly clean or dressed.
• Fosters positive relationship between support staff and individuals served
• To be always flexible and responsive to meet the changing needs of the service and the service users.
• Support individuals in a non-judgmental way based on the principles of anti-discriminatory practice
• Assure proper training for individuals served, which may include how to get along with others, selected life skill goals, fire drills, and health and safety training.
• Support individual served with job skills and proper employment conversations
• Listen to residents who may need to express an opinion or concern and make referral to management when appropriate.
• Effectively communicate with all staff regarding resident needs.
• Finance Support people to manage their resources and finances
• Maintain confidentiality and follow all HIPPA guidelines.
• Document meetings within 24 hours of service
• Other related duties as assigned.
